Discover restaurants and cafes in Joka, near Gems Bougainvillas

This blog has more than once talked about how the Joka, Behala regions are already well-developed when it comes to urban amenities, both public and private. Today, we want to show our readers that the area has an ample variety of restaurants, cafes and food joints.

Chowman (Behala)

Among Kolkata’s rapidly growing food chains, Chowman is much loved for its authentic Chinese cuisine and it’s Chinese dishes with an Indian twist. Patrons have much appreciated its service and décor, as well.

Hatari (Behala)

Serving Chinese, Indian, Oriental and Tandoori cuisines. Hatari is an old, established, and very popular restaurant for deliveries and dine-in both. This outlet is a large space located on Bhupen Roy Road, rated 4.2/5 on Google reviews.

Tribe (James Long Sarani)

One of the best cafés on James Long Sarani, Tribe has a great ambience and the standard selection of café cuisine, like sandwiches, continental, Italian, seafood, and a variety of beverages to choose from.

The Saffron (Behala)

Serving North Indian, Chinese and Biryani cuisines; people have reviewed this place to have a relaxed atmosphere, good for large groups, and provides good quantity in its dishes.

Koshe Kosha (Behala)

Known for its traditional Bengali cuisine and interesting décor, Koshe Kosha is regarded as a must-visit for tourists and guests from out of town.

Rollick ice cream parlour (James Long Sarani)

Ice cream parlours have become increasingly popular in Kolkata, and new outlets are rapidly coming up in residential areas all over the city. Rollick is one of Kolkata’s own and oldest ice cream brands.

Tandoor Park (Mitra Colony, Behala)

Tandoor Park has become one of the city’s most popular fine dining chains, it boasts of impeccable ambience and delectable Tandoori, North Indian, Punjabi and Mughlai cuisines.

Curry Patta (James Long Sarani)

Another great example of a successful, popular and thriving food chain founded in Kolkata; Curry Patta offers South Indian, Chinese, and Fast food options.

Domino’s Pizza (James Long Sarani)

TWithout a doubt India’s most famous and ubiquitous restaurant chains, Domino’s has been ahead of the curve by many years.

Flurys’ outlet (Diamond Harbour Road)

Lately, Flurys’ has been rapidly expanding with smaller outlets serving many residential areas around Kolkata. This outlet, on Diamond Harbour Road, is not too far from Gems Bougainvillas and accepts orders for delivery and take-out.

Arsalan (James Long Sarani)

Founded in 2002, Arsalan has gone on to become one of the city’s favourite biryani outlets. Located on James Long Sarani, this outlet has both dine-in and delivery options.

Chinese cuisine has always been popular in Kolkata; However, the last decade has witnessed the phenomenal growth of some oriental preparations, Momos in particular. WOW! Momo is one of the many franchise-models offering a great selection of Oriental cuisine, in addition to many kinds of Momos.

Biggies Burger (Behala)

A relatively new, but rapidly expanding, fast food chain. Biggies Burger has received some very promising reviews on Google.

Sanjha Chulha (James Long Sarani)

Serving North Indian, Biryani, Chinese cuisines, Sanjha Chulha has many different outlets across the city and is known for its distinct tasting gravies.

The Shake factory (Behala)

Café culture in the city has also branched into the take-away trend, with many outlets aimed at ice creams, shakes and other such dessert items. The Shake Factory can be an interesting find for locals.

Café Coffee Day (James Long Sarani)

Perhaps one of the country’s most popular café chains, CCD (as it is known colloquially) offers great ambience, good coffee and a tasteful selection of finger foods and snacks.

Mio Amore Cake Shop (James Long Sarani)

Formerly ‘Monginis’, Mio Amore has dozens of outlets all over Kolkata and is the go-to bakery for most of the city’s families.

Joka, Thakurpukur, Behala Chowrasta and neighbouring areas offer many kinds of restaurants and a variety of cuisines to pick from. It’s clear that the region is all set for the residential boom it finds itself in the middle of.
